Why everyone keeps coming back.

Nestled in the heart of Estremoz at Rossio Marquês de Pombal, Casa das Bifanas offers an authentic Portuguese dining experience centered around one of the country’s most beloved traditional dishes: the bifana. This unassuming eatery invites you to indulge in rich, flavorful pork sandwiches where tender slices of marinated pork are bathed in a savory, aromatic sauce and served within crusty bread—a simple yet deeply satisfying taste that speaks to Portugal’s culinary soul.

Casa das Bifanas goes beyond the classic with creative variations that breathe new life into this traditional favorite. The generous portions ensure you leave full and happy, whether you opt for the signature bifanas or explore other tantalizing options like the hearty picapau tapas, which bring a delightful burst of flavor with every bite. The balance of spices and textures is masterfully executed, making each mouthful a comforting yet exciting experience.

The atmosphere at Casa das Bifanas is casual and welcoming, perfect for a quick, fulfilling meal or a relaxed bite with friends and family. A charming terrace gives guests the opportunity to savor their food alfresco while soaking up the historic ambiance of Estremoz’s main square. Though the service can occasionally move at a leisurely pace during busy times and may come off as a bit rough around the edges, the warmth of the staff shines through, especially to families and travelers looking for an affordable, genuine local meal.

Visitors have praised the spot for its fantastic value and flavor-packed dishes, often highlighting the friendly and helpful nature of the staff who enhance the overall experience. Whether you're stopping by for a quick coffee and a bite or dedicating time to enjoy a full meal, Casa das Bifanas promises a gratifying taste of Portuguese tradition with every visit.

For those exploring Estremoz, this restaurant provides a perfect culinary pitstop to recharge and immerse yourself in authentic local flavors, completing your journey through this beautiful town steeped in history and Portuguese charm.

Delicious bifanas and huge portions of some other tapas like pica-pau. Service is rough around the edges as you'd expect. Very reasonable prices.
